Day 2 DRAWING

Today is the first real day at this summer program, where we had both drawing and design class as in real class class.

drawing class this morning was very exciting for me, not only because i think drawing is cool and i want to lean to draw, but also because i found out that i could draw?!...
i mean, ive taken a few classes before cause my mother forced me to, but i always made my teacher draw my stuff and then show it to my mother.. but now that i decided, i want to be able to draw like a dream, it was really really cool finding out that i didnt suck that bad. :)

what i did today, was i followed the instructions, or tips that Paul gave us because i didnt know how else i would draw, so i tried to make long connected lines, and draw big figures, try to get the proportions right and using the charcoal to measure how many heads the model was, sitting and standing, and making ticks on the page to mark it so it cant go too wrong. and most importantly, draw exactly what you see and not what you think would look good or right, poo that was hard, but it actually looked more right when i drew what i saw.... only in the end when the picture is done though....hehe

here are some pictures i sketched from the 30 seconds rounds, where i focused on making long lines and not small details, marking her body shape instead of focusing on her eyelashes and hair and so on:

And these are sketches i made without looking at the paper and without cheating ;)
they look retarded, but it was a great exercise, i drew too fast though, and paul reminded me to draw slower and focus on the space outside of the body and draw lines that way, nice and slowly:

And in the end, we drew poses of 10 minutes, where we had time to add details instead of fast sketching, but still spending our time wisely, you can see that i learn a little more each sketch, and improve and use my time m ore wisely from the 1st to last. i feel that i managed to get the proportions pretty accurate, since i did the measuring method Paul showed us, and i double checked even after the image was finished and it matched to what i saw from the angle i was standing:

and now its time for me to draw my left hand again, using the tips we learned today, and a statue somewhere in manhattan :) so im off now! i want to get it done while i still have the skills in my arm!
Happy 4th of July tomorrow!!!
